We went on a trip to the BBC in Caversham Park on Thursday 6th July and we had tons of fun. Reporter Beni interviewed Tashi on what she thought about the experience: “We had a nice time and the place was veeeery posh!!!!”
After we arrived, we had small lecture on the history of the building and the BBC from our host Martyn. We moved to the editing suite and we went to the two rooms next door. The two rooms were The cable room (what we called the spaghetti cupboard!) and the filming room where MPs and celebrities like us (!) get interviewed and asked questions. The filming room was boiling; however the cable room had air conditioning, since it was a hot day (around 27°C)
Next we went to the DJ room and our guide showed us what each button and each slider did then the lady next door worriedly thought that when our guide was talking to us, we had accidentally gone on air! (Which means on radio!)Then when everybody got all panicky we got another message that it was a false alarm and Studio 2 was still in control.
Finally, we got led to the news room where all the news reporters sent back news articles which were then processed by individual people to the news section of the radio. There is an individual person for each category (E.G. for sports, politics, traffic and much more!)
